MHS was established in 2010 under the auspices of Landmarks to support and promote the revitalization programs of the Metcalfe Community Association. In 2009 with the support of citizens, Metcalfe was nominated by Landmarks for The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation’s Places in Peril list. The designation provided grant funding that ignited efforts to “put the ‘E’ back in Metcalfe: Economy, Enthusiasm, Everyone.” As a result, MHS became a means to unite people with Metcalfe roots near and far to become involved in preserving the architecture, history, and heritage of the historic township.
Upcoming MHS Events:
- November 18th-19th: World War I Photo & Memorabilia Exhibition
- November 19th: MHS Fall Meeting featuring a WWI exhibit, a short overview of World War I, & music from the period.
