Ponder House | Long Pine Plantation

2024-2025 Award of Stewardship

Local historians believe that Long Pine Plantation’s antebellum Ponder House was constructed by African American master craftsmen, ancestors of Thomasville’s Henry Ossian Flipper, the nation’s first African American graduate of West Point. Work on the Ponder House included roof replacement, stabilization of the front porch, restoration of the building’s original flooring, and updated bathrooms and kitchen. The building is currently used as employee housing and remains at its original location.
