Becky Felts
Constructed in 1939 in the Glenwood subdivision, the house located at 148 Belmont Drive was built as a single-family residence. At the time of Becky Felts’ purchase, the property had not been updated in many years. In her rehabilitation, Mrs. Felts reworked the building’s interior – updating bathrooms, living space, and bedrooms, and expanding the building’s footprint by constructing a sympathetic addition across the building’s rear elevation. It must be noted that the house is built of Arnold brick, a distinctive brick recognized for its warm tones and durability. On the advice of Thomasville architect Charles Olson, Mrs. Felts did not paint exterior brick, retaining the house’s original exposed masonry finish.
